T1 Fortress Gottardo

Drive your Land Rover up the Nufenen Pass, the highest drivable pass entirely within Switzerland. It connects Valais and Ticino, offering stunning views of snow-capped mountains and winding roads popular with motorcyclists.

The road, built in the late 1960s, has many twists and turns, providing an exciting driving experience. You might spot ibexes near the road or hear marmots whistling. Historically, it was a trade route for livestock and cheese.

The pass also gives access to Val Bedretto, known for its charm and gastronomic traditions.

In Airolo, the route leads up the “Tremola” to the San Gottardo Fortress, once a stronghold of the Swiss Army.

From there, descend to Urseren valley, where James Bond had a famous encounter. Pass the abandoned hotel Bélvédère and see the last bit of the Rhône glacier.

Our Offer For You
