Of course you didn't just come for 3 days!
The Ride to Switzerland can be far, and driving from all around Europe to visit the 40th Anniversary of the Land Rovers of Switzerland Club might be an overkill. Why not take the time and do a pre-sequel before? Welcome to the PROLOGUE. The exclusive ride you do by yourself on the traces of "my Switzerland" - the "Grand Tour" - exploring the secret jewels of Switzerland in your own Land Rover, without any fixed points. Just recommendations, and you decide what you see and what you skip.
The official Grand Tour of Switzerland
The Prologue - like the Grand Tour, but for Land Rovers.
Please note: The Roadbook will recommend sites, where you can stay. How you stay there and if you take an alternate booking, e. g. an official Camping-Site with Showers and Toilets is up to you. The Prologue is written for drivers, which have a fully equipped Land Rover with options to cook, sleep, eat and dispose of excrements.
The Roadtrip of a Lifetime

The Route is hand-picked for Land Rover Drivers. The Tour is on Tarmac Roads, and the Overnight Stays are with Fellow Land Rover Enthusiasts, offering a "place to park" or on official Camp Sites operated commercially. The Tour can be booked in two ways: You get a roadbook which guides you to famous spots and hidden treasures, where you solve puzzles and find your route, OR your GPS telling you where to drive.
The Adventure
You get a roadbook and have to follow breadcrumb steps to find your way. You solve puzzles and discover places, which are hand-picked for you. There are voluntary side trips, you can add with day-trips, hikes or explorative drives.
Day 1
You visit the Famous Rheinfall and the climb to "Munot", the fortress of Schaffhausen. You explore the Monastery of Rheinau and drive through the Zuerich "Wine-Land". Your night spot is at the camp site the 35th Anniversary Meeting took place. The place will not offer showers. Organize yourself!
Day 2
From there, you follow the Tracks via the countryside of Zürich towards the hilly regions of Thurgau and the old Town of Appenzell, passing the famous "Säntis". If you dare, you take your hiking gear and visit the "House under the rock" you might know from Instagram. For this endeavour, plan an extra day. Later, you will be heading down passing to the Tamina Valley. Your camp spot will offer a river in a steep valley and a toilet. You stay for a small fee or look for your own overnight stay in the area.
Day 3
Early morning you explore Vättis with thermal fountains, explore an artificial lake and behind hidden a treasure of an old Walser village. You turn back and head down towards Chur, climb up to Lenzerheide and pass the famous Albula Train-Route. You will take a glimpse of the Landwasser Viaduct, where the red RHB-Trains pass over. Your route takes you to Engadin and through the National Park up to Stelvio. Late in the afternoon you arrive in Livigno, a tax free region with cheap Diesel, Petrol and Alcohol. You stay on an official camp site.
Day 4
Climbing up Bernina you re-Enter Engadin and spend an extra day on hikes or pass the valley towards the famous Maloja Passage down to Italy for Gelati or Pizzocheri, to head up right again towards Splügen and San Bernardino. In Ticino you explore steep dam's, famous bridges and if you dare, you take the extra ride to the back of a looooong valley and camp there.
Day 5
You will be taking the Valley of a Hundred Valleys (Centovalli) to cross the Mountains via Simplon and get to the 40th Anniversary.
Time
Extra days are possible to do near Säntis (Appenzell), Tamina valley, in Engadin or in Ticino. You can stretch the trip up to 8 or 9 days and still be in the 40th Anniversary Trophy.
Cost
The tour will cost Diesel or Petrol, food, parking fees, cable car fees (if you want to take them). For overnight stays we have recommendations, which you take or book your own camping site, hotel or search for a hidden spot to sleep there.
